Jack McLemore, retired educator and World War II veteran, was born, September 26, 1924, to Emmett and Myrtle (Peniska) McLemore at the family home in the Lyons community. Jack passed away in the same home at Lyons, on October 5, 2017, at the age of 93. Jack was an enrolled member of both the Cherokee Nation and the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska. He completed his teaching career at Stilwell Junior High. After retirement Jack volunteered his service to the Adair County Sheriff’s Department as an auxiliary deputy.
